ABOUT AB/CD
The idea for AB/CD came up in the end of 1983!
“To form a band that would only play AC/DC covers”
At that time, the term “tribute band” didn’t even exist (as far as we know).
Everything happened naturally after we started rehearsing when the singer Micke Hujanen suddenly disappeared from the rehearsal room for a while, and the next moment made an entrance in a cap that his grandmother had sewn a wig into to get the same hairstyle as Brian Johnson! Everyone in the band was laughing their asses off!
At the same time, our guitarist “Bengus” (Bengt Ljungberger) decided to get a cap with the letter “B” on it and a similar school uniform that Angus Young wears on stage!
Suddenly, we had automatically become a tribute band!
With “Nalcolm´s” (Nalle Påhlsson) contacts they got in touch with the popular rock club at that time “STUDION” located at S:t Eriksplan, Stockholm and booked a gig. It was a blast! The rumor had spread for some reason…
Members of bands such as Europe, Treat, 220Volt, Easy Action and others were there – watching and listening. The rumor about AB/CD as a really fun and good party band spread further……
In 1986 we got a record deal with Alpha Records. An EP with 6 original songs was recorded at Soundtrade Studios in Solna, Stockholm and was printed in 1500 copies on vinyl. They sold out quickly.
In 1992, through Tomas Ledin and Polar Studios, we were able to record our first full length album, “The Rock’n’Roll Devil”. This time too, with only our own original songs that sounded very familiar to AC/DC. The album sold in access of 30,000 copies!
1995 It was time for another album, “Cut The Crap”. Our original singer Micke Hujanen had now dropped out and been replaced by Mats Levén. “Cut The Crap” did not achieve the same success as “The Rock’n’Roll Devil” but kept AB/CD’s place on the map as “that iconic tribute band”.
In the years since then, AB/CD has played sparingly around Sweden.
In 2020, “Nalcolm” (Nalle Påhlsson) decided that “now it’s time for a new album”.
The result became the album “Back’n’Attack” which was released in June 2023.
In 2024, AB/CD celebrated their 40th anniversary by recording another 12 original songs . This was done by releasing 1 song per month during that year!
This became the album “Light The Fuse” which was released digitally in 2025.
